Welcome to the Seattle Surgical Society’s 115th year. First, I would like to acknowledge the tremendous work that Dr. Dick and Dr. Sham did in putting together our Annual and Monday evening meetings this past year. The Annual Meeting was exceptional and very well attended. We had a sold-out Banquet at the “Ruins”, with great food, conversation, and awards.
It is a pleasure to announce our 2025 Seattle Surgical Society Board:
President-Elect: Ravi Moonka, MD
Past President: Andre Dick, MD
Secretary: Elina Quiroga, MD
Treasurer: Laila Rashidi, MD
Historian: Kaj Johansen, MD
Returning Board of Governors:
Jared Brandenberger, MD
Colette Inaba, MD
Kate Mandell, MD
Vlad Simianu, MD
New Board of Governors:
Jonathan Sham, MD
Nicole Zern, MD
I am also excited to announce our program chairman for 2025, Dr. Lawerence “Nick” Cetrulo. He is a general surgeon fellowship trained in minimally invasive surgery and practices in UW Hernia Center at the UWMC NW campus. He will bring great energy and enthusiasm to the programs.

To continue Dr. Dick’s goal of increasing membership for the Society, we ask our members to identify existing and new surgical partners (both physicians and APPs) who would benefit from membership. Including outreach to all surgical subspecialties, at regional medical centers. We would also like to increase our next generation influence. I encourage you to bring Fellow’s, Residents and Medical Students to our Monday evening meetings.
Our first Monday program will be on April 28th, the program promises to be thought provoking and conversation stimulating.
On a personal note, my Journey with Seattle Surgical Society began at a Monday dinner meeting as a Fellow 20 years ago. I am thankful for the initial exposure, years of engagement, leading to leadership of this important organization. Being a member of Seattle Surgical Society has shaped my career and been a critical part of my experience as a surgeon in Seattle. The opportunity to network, socialize and collaborate with like-minded peers is invaluable.
Please feel free to contact me, Sue Lentz, or any board member with questions or suggestions.
We hope to see you at the Rainier Club!
Sincerely,
Your President
